This year, we challenge youth from Tampa Bay and beyond to celebrate their passions! We’ll look at individuals who parlay their love of life, art, music, literature, community service and more, into their life’s purpose and work. And we’ll be asking you , “What do you love?! ” And challenging you to find a way to “Do it!“
What: TEDxYouth@TampaBay 2011
Where: St. Petersburg College-Seminole 9200 113th Street North, Seminole
When: November 19, 2011 from 10am-4pm
Why? Because it’s wonderful!
TEDxYouth@TampaBay will be one of dozens of other TEDxYouth Day events going on worldwide that weekend, in celebration of Universal Children’s Day. These events will vary widely in size, format and theme but TEDxYouth@TampaBay and the rest will share a common vision: inspiring curiosity, igniting new ideas, and empowering young leaders.
Our youth event will combine TEDTalks video and live presentations by those ages 25 and younger, and those who work with them around the central theme “Love it? Do it!” in your own life, and in the world around you, by being empowered to act on the things that move and interest you, creatively, artistically, politically or philosophically.
Our Venue
Surrounded by beautiful pine woodlands, the Seminole Campus of St. Petersburg College focuses on using technology to improve teaching and learning, and the environment, making it the perfect partner for our ideas-focused TEDxYouth event. Like TEDxYouth@TampaBay, SPC Seminole knows how to leverage the power of collaboration. The campus is home to the University Partnership Center, an alliance of sixteen colleges and universities providing bachelor’s and graduate degrees to more than 1-million people in the Pinellas county area. The Seminole Campus is also the home of the Seminole Community Library, which opened in 2003 as a partnership between the college and the City of Seminole. And the college has collaborative agreements with the University of Florida College of Dentistry and College of Pharmacy
Want to attend? Although the event will be publicly livestreamed, seating to enjoy the event live, is limited to 100 audience members. Registration is now closed, but be sure to watch the Livestream the day of the event!
TEDxYouth@TampaBay provides a one of a kind opportunity to engage in the sharing of big ideas and deep discussions with others who believe in living intentionally and with meaning in our world.
