The Tampa Bay Times reports today on 11 year old Connor Wilson, of New Tampa, who just joined that small esteemed echelon of young published authors with his new book, The Giant Pencil. Just 9 years old when he penned his story, Connor spent the next two years learning the ropes of professional publishing under the guidance of his father, science fiction author Jeff Wilson, and Magic Dreams Publishing, of Chicago.
A Giant Pencil is about a bullied boy who discovers a giant, magic pencil that can erase everyone who bothers him. After erasing everyone he cares about, he realizes the mistake he’s made and tries to draw them back into his life.
“I was just sitting around one day and the story just came to me,” Connor told the Times.
Connor will be marking the launch of his new book on Saturday, August 11, at the Glazer Children’s Museum in Tampa, where he will read from A Giant Pencil , and sign copies.
